Contractor Demand to Rise in the UK

        1738 views

Skill shortage in the IT contracting sector has got Recruiters worried and, the situation doesn’t seem to be improving.

IT Recruiters are struggling to fill their positions and many of them are on the verge of failing their deadlines, while some have already crossed it. This is now being seen as a major threat to the UK IT market, as the demand for IT professionals, especially IT Contractors is growing day after day.

Recent report from The Recruitment & Employment Confederation suggest that the demand for Contractors have grown from 63.7% to 64%; while the demand for permanent IT employees has fallen for the second month in a row, i.e. from 69.6% to 68.5%.

For some Recruiters, search for talent has reached to a dead end. It simply is becoming more and more difficult to fill vacancies in the current climate. It seems that the time has come when employers seriously start looking at reshaping their future projects to salvage the current situation.

Not only that, Employers, HR and Recruiters need to sit together to create job roles, description and pay structures that would tempt IT professionals to start contracting.

On the positive side of things, it is also observed that due to the lucrative benefits associated with contracting, more and more IT professionals (permanent employees) are switching towards contracting.

One thing is for sure, there is a very high demand in the contracting market, and there are great benefits too. On a medium to long-term perspective, it seems that, we will see more and more IT professionals joining Contracting, and the difference could well be much lower than what it is, at this stage.
